Alice Deco was a standalone single-issue Japanese-language mook intended as a spin-off special edition of nadesico magazine by INFOREST[1] that was followed by a short-lived fashion mook magazine by the name of Alice Deco A La Mode.
History
Alice Deco and Alice Deco A La Mode ran from 2008-2010 and was known for its unconventional styling of lolita and other jfashion styles, with the first volume of A La Mode promising "We'll show you a new way to wear Lolita clothes♪/ロリータ服の新しい着方、教えます♪"[2] The publication's styling maintained an emphasis on layering, style mixing and versatility of wardrobe pieces.
This publication became very popular in western lolita communities and inspired a Livejournal community for similar outfitsharing called Daily AlaMode:
"I've been so inspired by the beautiful, unusual, and unconventional coordinations I've seen in Alice Deco. I thought it might be nice to have a place to post coordinations with lolita elements, brands, or inspiration. Those which aren't lolita but have some lolita flare to them. I also thought it would be good to have a place for people to post pictures of japanese brand items used in everyday wear. So I started this community. I hope that here you can have a place to show your creativity without it being a full lolita coordinate. Please check it out, and feel free to join!"[3]
