History

Bodyline started as a costume shop, factory and international trade company in November 2001.[1] Their factory was established in December of 2001 in China about 30 minutes by car from Shanghai International Airport.[1] Per their website, the factory was connected to the Japan office by videophone and they performed production control and quality control in real time. They employed 50 people and used industrial sewing machines from Japanese makers JUKI and YAMATO. Their staff designer previously worked at Wacoal (ワコール), a Japanese undergarment company, and they did both small batch and large batch sewing.[2] The sewing factory also took outside orders, and was able to produce a variety of items from general clothing to underwear to dog clothing with a minimum of 50 pieces per order.[3] In 2003 they incorporated under the parent company JC International Trade Co., Ltd. (株式会社ジェーシーインターナショナルトレード ).[4][5]

In Late 2017, Bodyline's parent company JC International Trade Co., Ltd. was acquired by J-STAR Co., Ltd.[6][4]
