Daily Lolita is an English-language LiveJournal group made for sharing lolita coordinates.
History
Daily Lolita was created by swdpunk on August 1st 2007.[1][2][3] The group was introduced on Livejournal like this:
I've made a new comunity called daily_lolita and I'd like to invite you all to join! This community was created for the sole purpose of posting pictures of your lolita and casual lolita outfits of the day. Please read the rules before you post and I hope to see lots of people's outfits today :D[3]
Prior to this, coord photos were sometimes posted on EGL directly, but as EGL grew, people made several more specific groups like this one to help organize the group.
Posts on daily lolita could contain as many coordinates as you wanted, as long as you put everything under a Live Journal cut if the images were over 500 pixels in either direction. Because of this, making posts that had several different day's outfits were not uncommon. It would be more normal to post one post with three coordinates worn over a long weekend, then to post one post each day with those three outfits.[1]
Unlike it's successor, Closet of Frills, Daily Lolita specifically forbade reposting images to 'hate communities'.[1]
Posts commonly included a coord rundown, which was a list of where each item the person was wearing was from, and it was common to give concrit in the comments.
While the community is still technically open, usage has dropped to the point where there have been several years of no posts. Because most people shared images that they hosted on free image hosting sites which have since gone under or deleted old content, many older posts have broken images. As of May 2023, there were 18,439 posts, with 536,216 comments and the groups was 154th in the list of LJ communities.[1]
