Decora (デコラ) is a Japanese street fashion style that involves layering brightly colored clothing items and accessories. Common motifs are vintage 80s toys and characters. It's also common to see lots of hairclips and/or stickers being used together in the hair. It is consider the predecessor of the lighter-toned Fairy-kei. Decora saw high popularity in the late 1990s and is one of the styles commonly featured in Zipper and Fruits magazines.[1] 6%DokiDoki and Pretty were considered the go-to shops for Decora.[1] Sometimes called "Fruits" style in the west after the FRUiTS magazine books, this style is what most westerners think of when they think of Harajuku fashion. Decora saw a second boom in popularity around 2010 due to the popularity of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.[1]
