Magazine
Print Magazine
Kera magazine started publishing as Kerouac with the tagline "For Excentric boys & girls" 1998. The X in Excentric was a different color in the title treatment. Volume 1 retailed for 480 yen.[2] By early 2000, the letters 'o', 'o' and 'c' were being printed small, so the title appeared to be KERA, and by the summer of 2001, those letters were dropped entirely.[3][4] The concept of the magazine was 'the most real Harajuku Street Magazine'.[5]
Early issues of the magazine were similar in content to FRUiTS: full page, glossy color photos of street snaps. Even the features like Hair Wars (cool alternative hair styles) and Snap in the Room were mostly photography based.[2] A small number of black and white pages featured pop culture, interviews, shop guides and letters to the editor which included indie brand features and fan art.[6] Around 2000, the magazine started including features which showed the latest items from different brands, either in themed styling features, or simply as the latest items.[7]
The final print issue was the June 2017 issue published April 15, 2017.[5][8]
Kera Style Online Magazine
Kera launched an online magazine, Kera Style, in May 2017.[9] In September 2017, Kera Style was hacked.[10]
Select Shop
In late 2018, Kera Shop shinjuku announced they would start carrying the Chinese indie brand SouffleSong.[11]
Online Shop
Kerashop online closed on January 15th, 2019. [12] Individual webshops for Kist
