Ad Center

The Ad Center (formerly Japan Textile Publishing Co., Ltd) was a visual design and production company founded in 1957.[1][2] It is known for publishing style books like American Style Complete Works and Magazines like Trendy (流行) and Izumi no Izumi (装いの泉).

History

In 1956 Tatsuya Torii (鳥居達也) and Seiichi Horiuchi (堀内誠一は) left Isetan and started Japan Textile Publishing Co., Ltd. In 1957, they changed the name to Ad Center. In 1958, Yoshihiro Tachiki joined the company as a photographer.[3]

The Ad Center was closed in 1972.[3]

Yoshihiro Tachiki (立木義浩) - Photographer, joined in 1958 after graduating from Tokyo College of Photography (now known as Tokyo Polytechnic University).[3]

Yukiko Hanai (花井幸子) - Fashion illustrator & Designer.[4] Graduated from Setsu Mode Seminar and joined Ad Center in 1959.[3][4] She left in 1972[3] and became independent in 1964, opening Atelier Hani in Asagaya, Tokyo. She presented her first couture collection in 1970.[5] She received the Japan Fashion Editor's Club (FEC) Award in 1973, formed TD-6( now known as the Tokyo Fashion Designer's Association) in 1974, and in 1989, she became the chairman of the Fashion Group.[4]

Isao Kaneko (金子功) - Joined the company in 1961 after graduating from Bunka Fashion College. Left in 1972.
