Lolita Updates is a public English-language Facebook group that acts as a lolita fashion newsgroup.
History
Lolita Updates was created by Abiba on June 5, 2013[1][2]. In August the group hit 400 members, and the first set of rules was formally established.[3] By December of that year, the group had grown to over 1,500 members.[4]
The banner was created by Yanyu in September, 2013, who described it as: "This banner is hand-drawn digitally. The colors are inspired by A Midsummer Night's Dream." [5]
May 26th, 2014, a sister group called Rufflechat was launched as a catch-all for posts that were not related to lolita news.[6] The two groups are moderated by the same team.[7]
In 2017, following a string of indie brands releasing sketches or print images and not following through with releases, the group voted on a new rule and forbade the posting of items unless they had at least a single sample garment made, with exceptions for a small number of brands who consistently followed through.[8]
Between May 4th 2022 and May 4th 2023, posts from the group were viewed by 687,015 people, and 397 new posts were made. As of May 2023, it has 26.6K members.[9][7]
