Rufflechat is an English-language lolita discussion group. It is a sister group to Lolita Updates. Unlike Lolita Updates, Rufflechat is a closed group and content can only be seen by members.
History
Rufflechat was created April 1, 2014,[1] but was announced in Lolita Updates and opened to the general lolita public on May 26th, 2014.[2] Rufflechat was created as a place "to ask questions and discuss things that are not necessarily news-related so we can keep Lolita Updates as a news-only place".[2] In December of 2014, the moderation team for the group increased, with 3 additional mods being added.[3]
In January of 2015, the first version of the modern formal rules were published. [4] One of the key things in those rules was no "me" questions due to members being annoyed by people asking basic questions that could finish the sentence "help me ____".
On November 7th, 2022, the moderators relaxed the rules of rufflechat due to the group slowing down and the moderation tools being more robust. This included allowing "me" questions as long as they weren't recent repeats.[5]
Between May 4th 2022 and May 4th 2023, facebook metrics show that there were 6,535 active members, and 87 new posts were made. 373 new members applied to join. As of May 2023, it has 12.5K members.[6]
