History

March 22nd, 2003 Mary Magdalene started their website with it officially opening on March 31st, 2003.[2] They conducted a series of questionnaires abut reservation sales methods, colors and sales methods in 2003.[3]

In February of 2004, they had a gift fair where they gave customers who spent over 20,000yen a mug.[4] Thursday, April 1, 2004, they celebrated their first anniversary.[5]

On August 20th, 2004, they announced that the designer Tanaka-san would be hospitalized from August 28th to September 10th for illness treatment. They announced that she was discharged on September 15th.[6] They continued to regularly hold surveys for re-releases and product details throughout 2004, 2005 and 2006.[7]

Production slowed with Mary Magdalene releasing only a couple items in 2016 and even fewer in 2017, however, the brand never officially posted anything stating they were closing or going out of business.

July 28, 2018, Mary Magdalene participated in the Le Panier Magazine tea party in Shanghai along with several other brands.[8] As part of the event, they released a MTO of the Faltetto Dress OP via the magazine's website along side the greatest hits from a number of other designers.[9][10] On July 11th, 2019, Mary Magdalene announced that the production of their MTO Faltetto Dress OP which had been ordered a year before had fallen through due to "circumstances at the sewing plant". They went on to explain that they were unsure if the items would ever be made, so they would refund everyone plus a small gift and review their production plans again to make sure this didn't happen again.[9]

In September of 2020, Mary Magdalene announced that they would be reopening their online shop, and apologized for the trouble during the time it was closed (because the MTO was conducted via Le Panier's site, the Mary Magdalene webshop had been inactive since 2017, so it can be inferred that this apology is another reference to the failed Faltetto Dress OP MTO) and they asked that people please continue to support them.[11]
