Jane Marple was founded in April 1985 by former MD Merchandiser, Yasuhiro Narita (成田保裕), and former MILK designer Megumi Murano (村野めぐみ).[3][1] In 1988, the first directly managed Jane Marple store was opened on the 2nd floor of Laforet Harajuku Part II. The brand was given the task of doing the Christmas window display for the shopping center, and continued to do it for the next seven years.[3]
In 1992 Jane Marple released their first pairs of shoes, with two styles: scallop ankle shoes and ghillies shoes. Their signature 4-strap shoes would be released in 1994, and have continued to be released many times since.[3]
In 2006, Jane Marple collaborated with Blythe for a charity collection and designed the cover of the Blythe photobook. Jane Marple also collaborated with Ito Miyoko.[3]
In 2009, for the 35th Anniversary of Hello Kitty, Jane Marple collaborated with Hello Kitty producing clothing and accessory items. Jane Marple Also collaborated with Disney in 2012 to celebrate the 110th anniversary of Walt Disney's birth. [3]
