History

Heart-E started out making one-of-a-kind hats which were sold in a store managed by Hyper Hyper in Laforet in 1987. They later expanded into making accessories, lifestyle goods and clothing. Their first piece of clothing was their "Rabbit Coat" in 1988 which saw lasting popularity and was still considered popular in 2005.[1]

Heart-E advertised in cutie magazine in the 90s.

Closure

In July of 2018, they posted a notice on their online shop:

As of July 2018, this site will be closed. The final order date will be July 25th, and July 30th will be the final transfer deadline, and orders that have passed that date will be cancelled.[2]

This was replaced with a farewell notice after July 25th:

As of July 25, orders are no longer accepted. Thank you for your patronage for 30 years.

Notable Figures

Etsuko Omae (大前えつこ) was the Heart-E founder and held the title "Representative / Designer". Went by "President" (社長).[3]
