Designer Miho Matsuda attended Kansai Women's Art Junior College and then graduated from Osaka Mode Gakuen's Design Department. She worked for Tokyo Style, and then became a designer for cantwo.[1]
After leaving cantwo in Tokyo, she went back to Osaka and got a part time job as a designer in a shoe store in America Mura. Her unique shoes became huge hits. in 1997 she established her own brand, MIHO MATSUDA, to sell her shoes and opened a store in America Mura.[2]
Her thick soled shoes created a trend that pre-dated the one driven by Gal style's Namie Amuro. It's said that one out of five people waking in America Mura in Osaka were wearing shoes with thick soles.[2][3]
In 1998 she opened stores Shibuya and Nagoya PARCO, bringing MIHO MATSUDA up to almost 10 directly managed stores, but in 1999, the business went bankrupt and closed.[2]
Early Shoes
She launched her website GOLDSEAL in 1999 after the closure of MIHO MATSUDA, and in 2001 she was able to relaunch MIHO MATSUDA with the sponsorship of Kobayashi & Co., Ltd. She opened 3 directly managed shops: Shinjuku Marui One, Vivre Okayama, Vivre Osaka. In 2003, she established GOLDSEAL CO., LTD. as it's own business.[2]
In 2007, she collaborated with CAPCOM for their Devil May Cry series, and the collaboration products were shown at Tokyo Game Show.[2]
In 2009, she launched a second line under GOLDSEAL making and selling professional uniforms.[2]
