An・An (アンアン)is a Japanese weekly women's / Fashion magazine published by Magazine House (formerly Heibon Publishing Co., Ltd.) every Wednesday.[1] An An is credited with the creation of several trendy fashion terms, like 「デザイナーズブランド」(The 'Designer Brand' movement) and「カラス族」('Crow' Style).[1]
History
The magazine launched as a female counterpart to the publisher's men's magazine Heibon Punch. Initially, it was meant to be a Japanese version of the French Fashion magazine Elle, and Launched as Anan Elle Japon.[3] The magazine was named after a panda on loan to the London zoo, who was seen by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi while traveling.
