Baroque launched in 2003 as an indie lolita clothing brand and later expanded to include original shoes, bags, and accessories in addition to their original main pieces. In 2023 they celebrated their 20th anniversary.[2]

The brand has collaborated on several occasions with prominent Japanese artist and designer Sakizo.[3] In 2020, they also collaborated with Moi-même-Moitie to create the popular Church & Roses lace tablier.[4]
