Pina Sweet Collection is a sweet and classic lolita brand best known for their romantic designs in solid colors and floral prints.
Concept
The brand describes themselves as:
Sweet, elegant Lolita fashion with lots of frills, lace, and shirring. Romantic clothing reminiscent of princesses and noblewomen. We primarily make free size clothes that will fit sizes 7-11. We are a small brand that makes each piece of clothing carefully, one by one.[1]
History
Designer Yuko Sato started the brand around 2003 because she wanted to try making the clothes she liked. At the time she was the mother of two children with almost no experience in dressmaking.[2] She loved the classical gothic lolita brand's clothing, but she didn't fit into the sizing, so she decided to start her own brand making the kinds of clothing she loved. While Pina Sweet Collection wasn't established to specifically be a plus size brand, she does continue to produce one-size items with shirring that are more size inclusive.[2] She didn't know any pattern makers so she found someone online who she thought she would get along with. In a 2007 interview, she said that she outsources almost everything except for the designs.[2] Pina Sweet Collection started selling through Atelier Pierrot in 2003.[3]
