Rei Yanagawa (柳川れい) ( November 2, 1946 - March 7, 2001), is best known as the founder of the brand Shirley Temple.[1] Rei Yanagawa was born November 2, 1946 in Osaka and later went to Nagasaki. Her father ran a factory. After graduating from Home Economics College, she entered Bunka Fashion College and she studied under Junko Koshino.

She worked for MILK in the early 70s, and also worked for BIGI group as a designer.[2] In 1974 she launched her children's clothing brand, Shirley Temple after getting married. Her first child, Reina, was born in 1974 as well. In 1983, she launched the older girls brand "Emily Temple". In 1985, she opened her limited-time shop "Last Road Market". In 1986, she published "The Story of Shirley Temple, a Girl Always in My Heart.", and then in 1998, she launched of the women's brand "Emily Temple Cute".

She passed away at her home in 2001.
